Reminder on ID picture

Hello, dear SMILE Parents in Pre-K to Junior High School! Praised be Jesus Christ!
The ID maker really needs your child’s picture already. Kindly send a soft copy of your child’s picture (head to chest shot) to the Class Adviser through Messenger until Friday, September 24. Please write your child’s FULL NAME and GRADE LEVEL to facilitate forwarding to the Cashier. The background is preferably but not necessarily white. Do please let your child wear a decent top (blouse or sleeved t-shirt).
Please disregard this announcement if you have submitted your child’s picture upon enrollment.
May I also remind the parents of Grades 1-3 learners to practice your children in manipulating J2e5. Some learners had difficulty typing words, embedding the voice clip and drawing/ attaching pictures during the simulation/ practice tests.

Re: Grades 4-10 Science Project Collaborative Performance Task and Science Product Innovation Proposal Collaborative performance Task
The SELECTION FOR BEST SCIENCE PROJECT is an annual competition in SMILE. This year, it will be held during Foundation Week. The said competition has no bearing on the grade. Only one awardee shall be selected for the Intermediate Category and only one awardee shall be selected for the High School Category. The basis for selection of the finalists is the score for the SMILExploration performance task in Science subject.
In the time of pandemic, the goal of SMILExploration performance task is for learners to engage in hands-on projects related to their lessons for the quarter, to enjoy opportunities to observe, ask questions, gather data, make conclusions, and then to present to others through a video whatever the process they went through as well whatever they learned in the process of doing science. For lack of time this school year, no technical paper is required.
The learners will be given a general topic based on which they can choose a project to make or investigate and then present through a video. Submission of the video of each learner’s performance task is not later than September 24, 2021. The said ONE PERFORMANCE TASK will be submitted to and scored by the teachers in Science, EPP / TLE, MAPEH, and Values subjects for the First Quarter.
The SCIENCE PRODUCT INNOVATION PROPOSAL SHOWDOWN is an exhibit of SMILE learners’ own ideas on new products or on innovations to existing products that will be for the good of mankind at some point in the future. There will be no actual product, but rather just purely ideas. This is because the showdown aims to develop creative thinking and communication skills among the learners. This is the first time that SMILE have this event. It is for all Grades 4-10 learners only. Written proposal and video of the presentation will be submitted to and scored in Science, Araling Panlipunan, English and Filipino subjects for the Second Quarter.
In order to give clarity, consistency and efficiency in the scoring for the two aforementioned performance tasks, herewith are the Scoring Rubrics. This supersedes Policy Memo Number 1 Scoring Rubrics for SMILExploration.

Re: Public Speaking Collaborative Performance Task
The selection for Best in Public Speaking Awardee is an annual competition in SMILE. This year, it will be held during Foundation Week. The criteria are based largely on the criteria used during DAPRISA public speaking contest.
The following are the categories / genre:
Grade 1- Poem Recitation;
Grade 2- Storytelling;
Grade 3- Declamation;
Grade 4- Oration;
Grade 5- Interpretive Reading (final piece will be deployed on October 14);
Grade 6- Creative Story Re-telling (final piece will be deployed on October 14);
Junior High School- Extemporaneous Preaching (final Bible passage which is the basis for the extemporaneous persuasive preaching will be deployed on October 14). Only one learner in the Junior High School Department will receive the Best in Extemporaneous Preaching Award.
The said competition has no bearing on the grade. However, the basis for selection of the finalists is the combined score for the SMILExpress Yourself performance task in English and Filipino subjects.
For the SMILExpress Yourself performance task, the learners will be given more than a month to read and practice the piece synchronously with their classmates, but they have to master it by themselves. Grades 5-10 learners will be given a practice piece but their final piece will be given 4 days before the deadline for the performance task. Submission of the video of each learner’s performance task in all levels is not later than October 18, 2021. The said ONE PERFORMANCE TASK will be submitted to and scored by the teachers in English, Filipino, MAPEH, and Values subjects for the Second Quarter.
In order to give clarity, consistency and efficiency in the scoring for the SMILExpress Yourself PT asynchronous collaborative performance task in public speaking, herewith are the Scoring Rubrics:
